The safety and health of our guests and staff are our highest priority. We are doing everything we can to ensure that your visit to Meander provides the perfect escape to reconnect with family, friends, and loved ones.
This requires all of us to move forward together by practicing physical distancing and embracing other daily habits to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19. We are aligning our contactless hospitality program with guidelines and best practices from the Virginia Department of Health and the American Hotel and Lodging Association, as indicated below:
Contactless Hospitality Options
We have developed a service of contactless hospitality to provide a safe environment where guests can easily practice physical distancing or limit interaction with other guests or staff. This includes contactless self check-in and check-out (unless other preference specified), no entry by staff into rooms/cottages during guest stay (unless requested by guest for trash removal or extra linens), and availability of food service to guest rooms (upon request).
Enhanced Cleaning & Disinfection
We have increased the frequency of routine cleaning and disinfection of high contact areas and hard surfaces in the main house and individual cottages, including check-in areas, door handles, dining tables/chairs, light switches, handrails, and public restrooms. These areas are disinfected every 2 hours by staff wearing masks and gloves.
Hand Washing & Hand Sanitizer
Staff are instructed to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds every 60 minutes. The application of alcohol-based hand sanitizers containing at least 60% alcohol is also permitted. Short breaks are provided to staff to ensure these practices are adhered to when on site.
Hand sanitizer is also available to guests at reception and on the back porch to ensure good hand hygiene is practiced by all.
Physical Distancing
Guests are requested to maintain an appropriate physical distance of at least six feet of distance from anyone that is not part of their household. Staff will also maintain a safe distance from guests as much as possible and will always wear masks and gloves. Outdoor areas such as back porch seating and picnic tables on the lawn are spaced accordingly.
Food Service
We will continue to offer room delivery options in addition to food service in the indoor dining room and outdoor spaces. Upon arrival, staff will request your preference for dining options via text or reservation system and stagger guest reservations to ensure adherence to gathering limitations. All seating accommodations are properly spaced at least 6 feet apart. Staff working in dining and service areas are required to wear masks and gloves and will limit interactions as much as possible while guests are seated.
Containers used for food delivery are cleaned and sanitized between use. Take-out food such as picnic baskets are provided for guests in a designated pick-up area (i.e back porch) to promote contactless delivery.
Staff Training & Protocols
Enhanced operational procedures, aligned with local health authority guidelines and best practices, are communicated to staff and reinforced periodically to ensure the well-being of both guests and employees. Staff self-monitor for any symptoms, take their temperature, and leave immediately if they have a fever. Staff are instructed to stay home if they are sick.
