Celebrating over 250 years of elegance and congenial tradition, the Restaurant at Meander invites our guests on a truly historic experience.
The Experience: Since 1766, the forefathers of America dined here, warmed by our fire and illuminated by candlelight. Today we strive to keep that tradition alive by providing a welcoming atmosphere and serving dishes inspired by the local area and our colonial past.
Outdoor and Indoor Dining: We offer limited indoor dining in our historic parlor or private dining rooms. We also offer outdoor dining on our back porch, fountain patio, or picnic tables on the Meander Lawn with views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Opening Hours:
- Dinner service is open to the public and guests of the Inn on Wednesday-Saturday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Sunday Suppers from 5:00-7:00 pm
- We offer a continental breakfast with fruit and fresh baked pastries delivered to rooms for guests of the Inn on Mondays and Tuesdays. A gourmet hot breakfast is offered Wednesday through Sunday mornings, which you have the option of adding to your reservation in advance. One of our front desk agents will also be happy to assist you with adding breakfast to your reservation at check-in.
- Breakfast service is open to the public Saturday and Sunday from 8:30-11:00 am, reservations required
The Menu: The Restaurant at Meander is a unique dining experience where you can have an entire three-course prix fixe dinner or an a la carte style dinner to create your chosen experience. Christmas Eve Dinner at Meander
Join us for a festive Christmas Eve Dinner at the Inn and Tavern at Meander. Celebrate the evening with friends and family gathered in our historic dining room and parlor, where warmth, good food, and tradition set the tone for the holiday.
Executive Chef Greer Brannock presents a special Christmas Eve menu inspired by the season and built around fresh regional ingredients and classic preparations. The evening begins with choices such as navy bean soup with smoked ham, radicchio and frisée salad with red wine poached pear and smoked Gouda, or steak tartare with shallots, capers, and Banyuls vinegar. Starters also include smoked salmon with potato pancake and dill crème fraîche, sea scallops with organic yellow grits and prosciutto, and arugula salad with burrata, yellow tomato, and grain mustard vinaigrette.
For the main course, guests may choose from Arctic char with saffron whipped potatoes and dill butter, roasted filet mignon with potato galette and horseradish butter, roasted venison tenderloin with salsify purée and blackberry brown butter, mussels with white wine and aioli toast, or Mediterranean couscous with roasted tomato, shiitake mushrooms, and yellow pepper emulsion.
Dessert offerings include crème brûlée, passion fruit cheesecake with strawberry coulis, white chocolate bread pudding with crème anglaise, flourless chocolate cake, and pot de crème.

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Meander
Ring in the New Year with an elegant New Year’s Eve Dinner at the Inn and Tavern at Meander. Join us for a celebratory evening in our historic dining room and parlor as we gather around the table to close out the year with good food and good company.
Executive Chef Greer Brannock presents a New Year’s Eve menu built around seasonal flavors and regional ingredients, offered as a generous prix fixe experience. The evening opens with first-course selections including borscht garnished with crème fraîche, Lola Rosa salad with toasted hazelnuts and red wine vinaigrette, radicchio and frisée salad with smoked Gouda and red wine poached pear, smoked salmon with potato pancake and dill cream, or beef tenderloin steak tartare with shallots, capers, parsley, and Banyuls vinegar.
For the main course, guests may choose from sea scallops with organic yellow grits, orange butter, pink peppercorns, and prosciutto, braised lamb shank with Mediterranean couscous, merguez sausage, and chimichurri, mussels with garlic, white wine, lemon, parsley butter, and aioli toast, Arctic char with celery root purée, pearl vegetables, capers, and dill butter, duck confit with salsify purée, potato galette, and fig butter, or eggplant roulade with roasted pepper, spinach, goat cheese, and yellow pepper emulsion.
Dessert selections include white chocolate bread pudding with crème anglaise, passion fruit cheesecake with strawberry coulis, hazelnut flourless chocolate cake, or pot de crème.

DuCard Wine Dinner | January 4 | 6:00 PM
Join us for a special Winemaker’s Dinner at the Inn and Tavern at Meander featuring DuCard Vineyards. This one-night experience brings together a six-course chef’s tasting menu and a guided selection of DuCard wines chosen to match each dish. Dinner is 125 dollars per person.
Executive Chef Greer Brannock designs the menu around seasonal ingredients, layered flavors, and careful technique. Each course highlights the character of the wine beside it and the shared craft behind both kitchen and vineyard.
The evening begins with smoked salmon and potato pancake with dill cream and roe, paired with DuCard 2023 Tana Chardonnay. The second course features roasted monkfish with braised fennel, capers, fig brown butter, and fried leeks, paired with the 2022 Signature Viognier.
The third course is a radicchio and frisée salad with toasted hazelnuts, shaved smoked gouda, red wine poached pear, and white balsamic vinaigrette, paired with DuCard 2021 Merlot, recognized by VinePair as one of the 20 Best Merlots for 2025. The fourth course presents duck confit with saffron couscous, pickled pearl beets, Medjool dates, and sage butter, paired with the 2022 Petit Verdot.
The fifth course features beef tenderloin with horseradish celery root purée, tarragon, yellow pepper emulsion, and roasted fingerling potatoes, paired with the 2023 Cabernet Franc Reserve, winner of a 2025 Virginia Governor’s Cup Gold Medal. Dessert concludes the evening with hazelnut flourless chocolate cake and passion fruit crème anglaise, paired with DuCard 2022 C’est Trop.

Sunday Supper at Meander
Join us at Meander for our delightful Sunday Supper series. Each Sunday from 5-7pm, gather your loved ones for a heartwarming three-course dinner at just $25 per person. Start with a fresh tomato and cucumber salad accompanied by our homemade cornbread with honey butter, followed by a main course choice of fried chicken or pulled pork BBQ with three savory sides, and capped off with a seasonal fruit cobbler for dessert.
